Keto Golf

1800 Active Calories. That's the amount of active calories I burned yesterday, just leisurely doing something that I love. For reference, it's about the same calorie burn that I have on a 2 hour bike ride. #Golf is by a long shot one of my most favorite ways to spend 5 hours. I've been rehabbing a rotator cuff tear since March, so this is only the second time I've been able to play 18 holes all year, but man is it fun.
A big part of golf is picking up something to eat and drink. The course I played is well known for their green chili breakfast burritos and craft beer. Obviously, that's not keto -- but I had a delicious jalapeno elk sausage with mustard (no bun) and some gatorade zero. The options are out there, and you don't even have to look that hard. And boy, I'll tell you what, being in ketosis is the most energy I've had playing a full round of golf start to finish without fading. Ketone energy is super legit, ya'll.
Now I know that a lot of people hate golf. I get that. But what about racquetball? Tennis? Basketball? Bowling? All of these games that require some sort of physical interaction give you a calorie burn above your metabolic base. When you're doing them, time goes by so fast that you don't even realize how many calories you're burning! Let me give you a few examples of what my burn potential is at 300 pounds based on my own findings using my heart rate monitor and super cool technology like the polar beats app, the wahoo fitness app, or the apple health app:
1) Golf: 400-500 Calories per hour
2) Racquetball: 700-800 Calories per hour
3) Tennis: 700-800 Calories per hour
4) Bowling 300-350 Calories per hour
5) Basketball (Shooting around): 400-500 calories per hour
6) Full court pickup basketball: 800-900 Calories per hour
You see where I'm going? You can have fun and burn calories at the same time. It doesn't always have to be #hardwork -- Sometimes it does. When I got home from #golf I lifted shoulders and arms for 60 minutes using the #P90X program.
I guess the point I'm trying to get across is that there's probably already something that you love to do that will yield a big calorie burn. Go do it more. It's good for you.
